CDD's leadership driving drug discovery in the cloud was illuminated in recent Nature and Chemistry Biology perspectives.

The Nature article highlighted the historic first time big pharma shared sensitive full drug discovery screening data on ChEMBL, Pubchem, and CDD.

"Two years ago, GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) announced that it would release details of about 13,500 molecules that had already been shown to inhibit the malaria-causing Plasmodium falciparum parasite."

And the Chemistry Biology perspective focused on the economic advantages of collaborative drug discovery leveraging the Internet:

...within the past few years, some companies are going virtual with their drug discovery efforts, taking advantage of the leaps in computing power and technology available through the cloud. "In a cloud-based world there are essentially no barriers.”— Barry Bunin, CEO, Collaborative Drug Discovery.  The goal is to increase the power of collaboration while maintaining the highest levels of security...
