Collaborative Drug Discovery Books - Part 2

When we are not writing code, planning strategy, or increasing customer delight here at CDD, we learn from a variety of books covering topics.   Here in part two we look deeper within the brain to see what drives us all, how to drive better, and how we can collaboratively synergize given the nature of group dynamics.   We'd like to share these five additional books you may find interesting:

Satisfaction: The Science of Finding True Fulfillment  Great book on why we do what we do, with scientific evidence from the MRI measuring dopamine in the striatum.  Tweeted by Marc Andrerssen (who developed the modern web browser) "Happiness is overrated, Satisfaction is underrated.  One of the most important books I've ever read."

Black Hole Focus: How Intelligent People Can Create a Powerful Purpose for Their Lives: How you can go beyond what you think you can do...and then some.

Connectome: How the Brain’s Wiring Makes Us Who we Are. Our hardware. And our software seems to be remarkably malleable. We’re just starting to get hints of the underlying language and logic. Poetically written, scientifically rigorous, and forward leaning, yet realistic.

Thinking Fast and Slow: A bit dense, but it helps describe how we think, inherent biases, and how psychology drives economics.

The Tao of Leadership:  Leadership for a New Age: Can 5th Century B.C. wisdom from Lao Tzu be relevant in today's busy world?

There is an interesting tension between the individual efforts required for discovery and collaborative synergies needed to see discovery through to fruition.   In designing CDD Vault, we've focused on both of these needs:  making it intuitive for individual insight and collaborative for group synergy.

We'd be interested to hear from you.  This is part two of the CDD reading list, you can find part one here.  Feel free to recommend any books that you think will help accelerate global collaborative drug discovery to info@collaborativedrug.com or post for the community in the CDD Vault LinkedIn Group.

This blog is authored by members of the CDD Vault community. CDD Vault is a hosted drug discovery informatics platform that securely manages both private and external biological and chemical data. It provides core functionality including chemical registration, structure activity relationship, chemical inventory, and electronic lab notebook capabilities!
