Virtual Pharma, Externalization, FIPnet, VIPCO - like gravity, you can fight it but you will lose (Part 4 - Scalability)
Scalable - nonlinear growth in collaborations, with linear growth in resources
Support is different with CDD. And it comes down to economics. Traditional database and ELN solutions have required high support costs - often with staff on site and costs as high or higher than the purchased technology.
CDD from day one has supported globally distributed groups via the web and phone. In this regard, a large academic user base is particularly noteworthy. An old joke among Vendors is that academics (due to their highly independent nature and budgets) traditionally require twice the support for half the budget. One needs to be 4x more efficient to really effectively support this marketplace. Yet CDD has thrived with users in the academic community.
Online self-help tools and an intuitive application are key. CDD provided the professional Zendesk Support Forum and detailed release notes on bi-monthly schedule as the platform continuously grows. The recent rapid growth speaks to the scalability of these collaborative platforms.
Economic pressures demand scalable, effective technologies.
